Excerpt from a letter written by Isaac Newton Phelps Stokes 
to his mother Mrs. A. P. Stokes at Shadowbrook was 

bfi built: 

" It does seem a rity not to use the WATO house or to 
convert it into stables, Mrs. HioDerly(?) of Macao(*'rs. Ward's 
sister-in-law) says Mr. McKim always regarded the house as
